We're picking up more and more every day!
Okay, this is the final edition of
this e-zine before my wife and I go on vacation.
We will be flying up to New Jersey for a week and
spending as much time as possible visiting with
our grand daughters and our great grand kids.
We have a set of twin girls (our
great grand daughters) that were born on my
birthday back in 2000 and also a brand new great
grandson that was born just last year.
We'll be staying with my oldest
son that lives way out in the boondocks in the
middle of the Wharton State Forest. He's so far
out in the "boonies" that he does not even have an
Internet connection.
His local phone company has told
him that there is no dial-up or even DSL available
where he lives.
So this should prove to be very
interesting for me, because this is the first time
that I'll be away from the Internet for a whole
week. I can just imagine what my e-mail inbox is
going to look like when I get back home. It is
already out of control and it will really be at
least ten times worse by the time I get back home
again.
Okay,
I have a nice surprise for you today. I've taken
some pictures of the condo complex where we live
and a lot of our wildlife neighbors (our pets). I
put them all on a special web page I've built and
uploaded to my server.
Okay, I have written a couple of
very interesting as well as informative articles
for you in today's edition.
Today's feature article,"3 Ways to Start Building
Your Opt-In List"
gives you some very good tips on how to get a good
start to building that all important opt-in list
that all of the guru's tell you that you must have
to make any income.

The light bulb has finally
started flashing in your head and you realize
that you need an opt-in list to make money on
the Internet.
You've read hundreds of
articles on the subject and sought expert
advice. You've heard all the stories of people
creating a profitable business with opt-in
lists.
With that light bulb still flashing away you
finally decide to do something about it -
start a list of your own.
But how do you get started?
And better yet, how do you
build a list big enough to generate an income
from?
It can be pretty scary when you're first
starting out.
Do you need a web site?
An opt-in form?
Should you use an
autoresponder service or a script on your own
site?
How should you format the
messages?
How many should you send a
week?
The list goes on and on.
The answers to a lot of these questions will
greatly depend on how experienced you are on
the Internet.
If you have no knowledge of
CGI or PHP, then hosting your own script may
not be an option.
If you don't know HTML or
don't have direct access to your on-line
files, then editing your pages to insert the
code for an opt-in form will not be possible.
These, unfortunately, are just some of the
obstacles that you will need to overcome if
you want to give this 'Internet Thing' a go.
Having your own web
site is almost a necessity. Without one, you
would only be able to promote other people's
products (as they would have their own web
sites for you to send traffic to through your
affiliate links).
Below are three easy ways that you can use to
start building your opt-in list:
Offer a free report that contains links back
to your web site or even includes an opt-in
form on one of the main pages. You can also
make it necessary for your visitors to fill
out your opt-in form before they can access
the report.
Join some of the Fire Sales and Giveaways
that other marketers are running (sometimes
called Joint Ventures). Add your gift to the
site and when visitors want to download your
gift make them fill out your opt-in form
first.
Exchange ads with other opt-in list owners.
You run an ad for them and they run an ad for
you. Granted you probably won't be able to
join up with someone who has a huge list (as
they won't be getting much exposure in return)
but if you can find other lists that are of a
similar size to yours, you should be in with a
chance.
Building a profitable opt-in list won't
happen overnight, but it will happen. Keep at
it and be creative.
Try things outside of the
box; put a twist on an old idea.

12 Ways to Build Your Opt-in List

Building your opt-in
list starts with having a website that will
persuade visitors to spend some time there.
By doing that they will be more apt to sign
up to your newsletter or offer.
Here are 7 steps that will help accomplish
this.
1. Use original material.
If they see that you are
displaying the same content as similar
sites. They aren't going to stay around for
very long.
2. Start out with a headline and
introduction that captures their attention.
Let them know what is
going to be found on your website. It
doesn't take long for today's surfers to
decide if this page is going to be worth
further attention.
3. Make sure your visitors know just what
they will find on your website.
They are looking for
information on a certain subject and they
need to know that you have their possible
answers. Therefore be sure to use the
keywords that best fit your web page because
when your visitor clicks on a keyword with
his browser he wants to find the
corresponding content.
4. Be sure you have numerous cross links
to various pages on your site so the visitor
can browse through it.
If he finds it helpful
and pertinent he will be more inclined to
bookmark your site and come back again. Be
sure your links are well designed to catch
the reader's eye.
5. Design your site so your pages can
load quickly.
Don't load it up with
too many pictures and long blocks of text.
Leave enough "white space" so one's eyes can
be drawn down the page. Articles should be
broken up into short paragraphs and adjust
your text so it is easy to read--not too
small nor too light. Difficult in reading
the content will discourage a visitor from
continuing.
6. Proofread your pages so you don't make
grammatical and spelling mistakes.
You need to appear a
professional. If you are not sure of the
effect the page is presenting let someone
else take a look. Forums are a good area to
ask members to view your site or particular
page. (You will probably receive all kinds
of opinions!) But you should definitely get
some valuable help.
7. Offer your visitors freebies--e-books,
software, articles etc. that they can
download from your site.
Ask them if they would
fill out a survey which could help you find
out for what type of information they are
looking, or ask if they would like to sign
up for your newsletter. If a visitor does
nothing else than to become one of your
subscribers and be put on your opt-in email
list you have won the first battle.
Now that you have a means to add to your
opt-in list by way of your website, you also
need to build your list in other ways,
especially if you don't yet have too many
hits on your site. That takes time but by
building your list you will increase them.
Here are 5 more possibilities outside your
website.
1. Advertise a free e-book.
You can have it
downloaded from your site as mentioned
before or you could have the visitor send
you an email and you could attach the e-book
to an answering one. This e-book doesn't
have to be more than 7-10 pages.
2.Advertise your newsletter and
send responders to your list via your
autoresponder, which will take care of the
opting in, and start-up of your e-mails.
3. Be sure any
e-mail, whether yours or your autoresponders
has an opt-out feature.
Use e-mail signatures, which you can add to
the bottom of your e-mails. In 3-6 lines you
put your name, short description and
appropriate link to your site or offer.
4. Send an e-mail to an individual e-mail
address and ask the recipient if they would
like to sign-up for your mailing list or
offer the option to decline from any future
mailings.
Be careful here because
anyone receiving your e-mail could consider
it to be spam. To me this is the
least desirable method, but some people
still use it.
5. If you have a newsletter in which you
have just about exhausted your material and
want to start another newsletter on a
different area you could send a broadcast
and invite anyone nearing the end of your
series of letters to change to the new
newsletter.
You may be able to keep
some of those who are ready to make a
change. You won't gain any new subscribers
really but you may be able to keep some of
those you might otherwise lose. Let them
know that you are proficient in different
areas.
As you can see building your opt-in list
need not be difficult. Use your imagination
and I am sure that you can find many other
means to get results.

We use a "Double Opt-In"
subscription system which means there are TWO steps
to complete before you are added to our mailing
list.
Step # 1
Scroll down to our little form below and enter your
first name and your primary email address
Step # 2
Within seconds after you click on the button at the
bottom of the form, you will receive a Confirmation
email from us. You must open that email and actually
click on the Confirmation link you will see in the
body of that email to complete your subscription
request.
That's all there is to it! Nothing complicated about
it.
Due to the many IP and Email SPAM filters
in effect
nowadays, your welcome email may be blocked.
Try to avoid using Yahoo, AOL and Hotmail
email accounts.
If you are using spam blockers such as
SpamArrest, Earthlink, SpamBully, FilterMy,
KnowSpam, etc., make sure to take the
necessary steps to ensure emails go through.
If you do not receive your welcome email, please
check your trash/spam folders and if not found
please contact us again.
To ensure you receive your welcome email, please add
these email addresses
to your
email address white list on your email
program.
(Note: Please be sure to replace the [at] with @
and remove the spaces, or else the email
addresses won't work. They are put here like that to
help prevent robots from harvesting the email
addresses and using them to send out spam)
so please make sure that you subscribe
with your valid e-mail address that you check on a
regular basis.
