Hi everyone,

Did you watch the Academy of Country Music awards show the other night? What an awesome show that was and it was hosted by my all time, "mostest, favoritest" honey of country music....REBA! Do you get the impression that I'm a Reba MacIntyre fan? Have you ever noticed when she is doing the hosting on those award shows, she always has that look about her that she is up to some kind of mischief or  just plain orneryness back stage. And I think she just might hold the record for the amount of times she changes clothes during the show.

Did you catch that special performance by Tim McGraw? I'll bet there was not even one dry eye in the house after that performance. Tim is also another of my favorites and Janis and I have seen him in concert several times.

And how about Carrie Underwood taking the Top Entertainer of the year award! Her career sure has sky rocketed since she won the American Idol thing.

Besides watching several of the season finale's of a lot of our favorite TV shows, I have been spending a lot of my time writing and submitting articles to help generate traffic to some of my websites. This method of generating traffic is just starting to work for me and I think it is a GREAT way to make some extra bucks.

I have recently acquired a list of article directories to submit my articles to and I swear that list list is at least TWO arm lengths long! If you would like to have a copy of it, just drop me an e-mail with "Article Directory List" in the subject line and I get it right out to you.

I've also been doing some updating on some of the pages of my TeeJay Enterprises main website. I've also posted the first chapter of my Identity Theft e-Book on the front page of my main website. Okay, next thing I wanted to tell you about.

Well, I've taken another plunge and this one is Blogging! I just started setting up a blog dealing with the crime of Identity Theft.

I'm having a little difficulty with getting some of the links in the right sidebar to show up in the blue color that everybody is familiar with for links. But I'll get it worked out eventually.

I'm also really getting into learning everything I can about "Tagging" and "Pinging". With the tremendous rise in popularity of all of these "Social Bookmarking" sites that are are cropping up all over the Internet, that's the way to go to create traffic to a blog.

Okay, I don't want to take up a bunch of your time with my ramblings, so I'll let you get on with reading today's edition.

A Responsible Approach to Online Marketing

When a person comes online, they are generally looking for information and resources. Many people are searching for a way to make money online and therein lies the setup for an unhealthy partnering of newbie and Internet savvy scam artist.

Everyone that has been online for a while and has set up a business needs to market that business to pay their bills and to grow their business.

However, the Internet seems to be in need of growing a "conscience" when it comes to the e-books, the software, and the tools that are offered to new people and those that are still searching for a method to better their life. Whether retail marketing or sponsorship program, each requires a lot of the person's time and resources to market to the new client.

Every day there are emails offering the newest marketing blitz, the most cherished system that a person cannot live without, the only method to making thousands of dollars as evidenced by the checks the marketer has received.

Granted, there are disclaimers, but it is like saying something in a courtroom. Once the word is out, it is highly unlikely that the jury is going to forget what was mentioned. The same goes for claims to wealth.

Receiving an email with a product that seems legitimate and is followed with a heart-felt sales offer will encourage many people to continue and become a representative.

The story behind how the marketer got to his position, how he felt during the start-up phase, and how he managed to obtain the goals set is much more interesting than how much he received in his last check. There has never been anyone that could spend that marketer's check but himself, so there seems to be no real reason to be showing checks in a sales solicitation.

After a person becomes a representative or purchases a product from a marketer, that marketer has a responsibility to help or lead the new person to obtain their goals. To keep retail sales from being cancelled, a follow up email on how to use the product or some of the benefits not mentioned previously or some general knowledge of how the product has helped others will be most welcomed.

The follow up lets the new representative know that the marketer has his best interests at heart and that he is not just another notch in his sponsor's printout sheet. Knowing there is a caring person behind a great product or program is more than enough motivation to a new person. This can be an inspiration to them to do well and to continue to try knowing that they have someone in their corner should a problem or questions come up.

Many marketers send out multiple solicitations to join their respective companies and, honestly, just wait to see who takes the bait and runs with it. That is one method of marketing, but it seriously lacks a sponsor's responsibility. A marketer should help a new person as much as that person wants to work.

Giving ideas, helping them through hard and easy times, and sharing methods that seem to be working and letting everyone take what they need and leave the rest seems to be a responsible attitude.

Everyone is different and new people have fear of failure on their mind and so trying to make everyone fit one mold is not a workable method. What works for one may not work for another, but it is helpful to the new person to know what the options are and to count on their representative to guide them.

To sum it up, if you are working programs or products that require sponsoring, then make sure that you retail products and that you spend time with those you bring into the program.

To do anything other than guide and share with those that you sponsor is irresponsible marketing and should not even be considered.

Online marketing can be a great source of friendship and business profits that last a lifetime if promoted properly. Do your part to make the Internet a more responsible and caring place.

6 Tips For Affiliates - Choose Your Merchant Wisely

Affiliate marketing has become increasingly popular in recent years. Affiliate programs offer merchants the opportunity to employ vast armies of sales people who only get paid for the results they achieve.

The rewards for affiliates are high also, and the skilled affiliate marketer can earn many thousands of dollars a month. This win-win situation has led to an explosion in the number of affiliate programs that are available to the would-be marketer. With this proliferation of opportunities has come many questions; how do you go about choosing the right opportunity for you? What qualities should you look for in a program and which gives you a good chance of making a sustainable income? Below are some tips that will help you to evaluate merchants and their programs, and help you to avoid wasting time and money.

1. How Much Commission Does The Merchant Pay?

This may seem obvious, but it is very important that you know how much you can expect to earn from a sale. There is no point in spending time and money promoting a product that doesn't pay well. You could end up spending more on marketing than you are likely to make on sales. It is probably best to stick with marketing products with a high commission value, unless you have found a niche market where you can sell vast quantities of product, and make substantial commissions on your volume of sales.

2. How Much Traffic is the Merchant's Website Getting?

Try to discover the amount of traffic the merchant's website is already receiving. Alexa.com could be a useful tool for doing this research. If the website is ranked in the top 100,000, the merchant is getting a good volume of traffic, and there may already be too many affiliates. If it is ranked below 500,000 it is either no good or it could just be a golden opportunity to make some real money! Always research a merchant's product if their website has a low traffic ranking. It may be a good idea to buy the product yourself if you can afford to. Otherwise you could do a search to find out if there are any adverse comments about it on the internet. If all is well and the product is good, you may have found a gold mine!

3. How Often Are Commissions Paid?

Some merchants pay commissions every week; some once a month, others only pay every quarter. It is important that you know how often you can expect a pay check if you are going to have financial control over your business. Do you have the financial resources to continue to market a product if you have to wait a long time before you get paid? It would also be wise to find out the minimum commission that you have to earn before you get paid.

4. Does The Company Use Tracking Cookies?

Many customers do not buy on their first visit to a merchant's website. It is important therefore that the merchant uses cookies on their site, so that you get credit if the customer returns and buys at a later date. Check out how long the cookies last. The longer the cookies lasts; the better the chance of getting paid!

5. Does The Merchant Pay On Subsequent Sales?

Some merchants will only pay commission on sales that come through customers visiting their site via a direct link from your site. They pay you nothing for any subsequent purchases that the customer makes if they visit the merchants site directly. It is important that you get paid no matter what route the customer returns by if you are to build a sustainable business.

6. What Promotional Resources Does The Merchant Offer?

Look at the type and quality of the promotional material that they provide. Do they provide articles or content that you can use to promote them on your site or free guides, special offers or samples? If the promotional resources are good it is likely that the merchant will provide good support for their affiliates.

Finding the right merchant can be a tricky business. The best advice is to do your own research. Use the above questions as an aid to finding a merchant that enables you to reach your financial goals.
