WHAT A NIGHTMARE WE
EXPERIENCED THIS WEEK!!!
Here's a brief
explanation of what happened:
IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM GREG HUGHES, OWNER OF TEKNON
MEDIA
JANUARY 29, 2008 SERVER ATTACK
On January 29th 2008 , several hundred websites
were terrorized by a group claiming to be from
Saudi Arabia in a typical anti-American attack
on website home pages. This caused a compromise
to websites in the form of replacing some index
pages with the hacker's message.
Needless to say, my
entire site was down from about 1 PM Tuesday
afternoon until late yesterday evening.
I had noticed on Tuesday morning, I was having
some difficulty in connecting to my server to
upload a few changes to some of my web pages I had
just finished.
Apparently, that's when the hacker was attempting
to gain access to the server and was blocking
anyone else from gaining access.
Of course, one of the first things I did was try
to call customer service at Teknon Media and the
phone lines were jammed.
And then, since I couldn't get thru on the phone,
I tried to log in to the Teknon Media customer
service web site and send in a support ticket.
Well, that didn't work either!
So, over the course
of time that I've been a customer of Teknon Media
which is close to about ten years, I had Greg's
personal e-mail address and I sent him an e-mail
telling him the problems I was experiencing.
About an hour later, I received an answer to my
e-mail from Greg and that's when I found out the
servers had been hacked.
So, to say the
least, it has been quite an interesting, if not
frustrating week for us here at TeeJay
Enterprises.
In the course of
all of this, I discovered that I have some
pages on my website that have not been updated in
quite some time. So I guess I'm going to be busy
taking care of that in the next few days.
Okay, as I told you
in the last edition, I have several new projects
I'm working on and one of them is a big TEN YEAR
ANNIVERSARY sale of several new products I've
accumulated recently. There will also be some of
my own products I've been working on for the last
few months that will be released to the public for
the first time.
I hadn't even
thought about it, but my wife reminded me the
other day that 2008 is our ten year anniversary of
working online in Internet Marketing and we have
come a looooonnnng way since we first got started
way back in 1998.
I'll get into more
of the details on some of the upcoming projects in the next edition which is
scheduled to be published on Friday, February 15th.
I would also
strongly recommend that you keep a close watch on
your e-mail inbox for some major announcements
from TeeJay Enterprises in the near future.
Okay, one other
little quick item I wanted to mention. I will be
taking off a little time next week, on Monday,
Feb. 11th, to be exact, because it is my 67th
birthday and my wife and I will be celebrating it
with a few friends.
Okay, I have
written a couple of very interesting as well as
informative articles for you in today's edition.
The feature
article, "How To Set Yourself Apart In
Affiliate Marketing" will give you good
information on how to "get a leg up" on your
competition and help get more sales from your
affiliate marketing efforts.

marketing is one of the best ways to quickly
make money from your own home-based Internet
business.
The reasons for this are many, including the
facts that you skip the research and
development stage, the product creation and
the copywriting for not only the sales page
but all the subsequent ads.
By not having to
invest in these early stages of product
development you save not only money but time
as well.
This leaves you, as the affiliate, the task of
simply marketing the chosen product or
service.
Easy enough, right?
Well my friend, this is where it gets a little
sticky.
The fact is that there are so many people just
like you entering the Internet marketing
arenaevery day looking for the so-called easy
dollar. And since that is exactly what
affiliate marketing promises, there is a lot
of competition for the same buck in most
niches.
The trick to affiliate success, no matter
which market or niche you may choose, is to
separate yourself from all the other
affiliates who are using the exact same
marketing materials as you are.
One note of caution - make sure to check the
affiliate rules for each program to verify
that the tactics listed here are permitted.
The first order of business is to get your own
web site along with a domain name closely
associated with the niche of choice.
If you are
targeting the home stereo niche you may want
to choose something like
www.homestereoguide.com or the like.
Next, you will want to find a template that
you can use as a basis for all of your site
pages. It is very important that the look and
feel of your site stays consistent through out
the site if you have more than one page.
Here is where you will really set yourself
apart from all the other affiliates.
Write a special
report or review of the product or service you
are going to promote. This is the real focus
of your marketing, getting this document out
to as many prospects as possible.
This piece should be given away as an
enticement for the prospects name and e-mail
address, which should be left in an
autoresponder. Set up several messages,
optimally 7 to 10, to go out at 2 to 3 day
intervals. Each message should give an
explanation of the benefits derived from the
product along with your affiliate link.
The autoresponder form should be prominently
displayed on all of the pages of your site
along with the sales pitch telling your
visitors why they should download the free
report.
You can easily set
this up in a sidebar on the template of
choice, usually on the left hand side.
By building this list of potential buyers you
can communicate with them as often as you
want. Send them alerts when a new product
comes out, when upgrades are available to
existing products or when sales on their
favorite products are being offered.
There are many reasons to build your list but
by offering a special report you label
yourself as an expert in your field, and you
also set yourself apart from all the other
affiliates that are trying to get the same
e-mail addresses YOU will be adding to YOUR
list.

How To Set Up A Rolodex On Your Desktop

Here's a little tip that I use all the time to
keep the URL's I use on a regular basis right at
my fingertips.
If you put your cursor down in the right side of
the gray bar at the bottom of your screen and
right click, you should get a pop-up menu that has
the word "Toolbars" somewhere on it.
You'll also see a little arrow to the right of the
word "Toolbars". If you put your cursor on the
word "Toolbars", you'll get a second pop-out menu.
On that one, you'll see the word "Address". When
you left click on the word "Address", you'll
notice the word "Address" will appear on the far
right side of the gray bar at the bottom of your
screen.
If you put your cursor on the little vertical line
on the left side of the word "Address", you'll see
it turn into a double horizontal arrow.
If you left click and hold it, you can drag the
address bar to the left and open it up.
Just plug in a URL you want to have readily
available into the white area of the address bar
and hit the "Go" button and it will take you to
the site you want.
I use this little feature much like a little
Rolodex to keep a lot of the URL's I use on a
regular basis right at my fingertips.
It sure beats searching thru your
favorites list.
If your favorites list is anything like mine (like
the local phone book), it might take days to find
the URL for a particular site you are looking for.

The Art of Using the Squeeze Page
In Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate
marketing is one of the quickest methods to
generate cash flow on the web today.
Among its many benefits is the fact that you
don't have to spend time or money
researching and developing a new product.
All of this has been done for you by the
product owner.
This is a tremendous burden lifted off your
shoulders because this is usually the most
costly aspect of any business venture.
A word of caution though, you should still
do a little research yourself as to whether
the market wants the product you are looking
to promote and whether the price point is
fair and reasonable enough to attract a big
audience.
Once this is done and you have found the
product or service you want to promote and
are satisfied with the affiliate program you
should set up what is referred to as a
squeeze page.
Simply put, a squeeze page is a one page pre
sales letter that entices the prospect to
leave their name and e-mail address in order
to receive more information on the product
or service of choice.
There are several points to be made for this
superb sales tactic.
Number one,
You set yourself
apart from all the other affiliates
promoting the same product.
Number two,
You build your
own opt-in list that you can promote other
products to.
So what do you need to use this tactic?
A few
basics and a little skill are all that's
needed.
First:
The first thing you need is a web hosting
account and domain name. These are very
inexpensive these days and are a must have
for anyone who is serious about doing
business online.
Second:
Second is an autoresponder. These too are
fairly inexpensive. Many hosting accounts
will now offer free autoresponders with
their service.
Third:
Third is an HTML
editor. There are several free editors out
there that are easily found through a quick
search. Nothing fancy is needed, just a
simple user friendly application.
Fourth:
And the final ingredient is a little copy
writing skill.
Here is a tip on what to write on your
page:
Go to the
product sales page. Pick out the highlights,
the biggest benefits you can see offered.
Think about what other benefits there are
that may not be stated already and jot them
down.
This is where the copy writing skill
comes in.
Now go into your HTML editor and put
together a small sales page using a good
headline, subhead and bullet points listing
all the benefits you gathered.
Put the e-mail capture form generated from
your autoresponder on the bottom of the
page. Let your prospect know that by leaving
their name and their primary e-mail address
you will then reveal this highly coveted
tool, piece of information, service or
whatever it is you have and they so
desperately want.
Do not mention the name of the product or
service on the capture page, just the
benefits.
The reason for
this is because they may have seen this
product or service before and were sitting
on the fence about it and you want the
prospect to purchase through your link. You
are going to nudge them over the fence with
your presentation.
All you are trying to do is build interest,
pique their curiosity and whet their
appetite for more information.
Set up your autoresponder with 6-7 emails
that go out in 3-4 day intervals, each
building on one of the benefits mentioned on
your squeeze page.
Then add in other related services or
products that you are an affiliate of.
Repetition is
the key and your squeeze page gives you that
advantage over other affiliates.

email from us. You must open that email and actually
click on the Confirmation link you will see in the
body of that email to complete your subscription

That's all there is to it! Nothing complicated about
it.
Due to the many IP and Email SPAM filters
in effect
nowadays, your welcome email may be blocked.
Try to avoid using Yahoo, AOL and Hotmail
email accounts.
If you are using spam blockers such as
SpamArrest, Earthlink, SpamBully, FilterMy,
KnowSpam, etc., make sure to take the
necessary steps to ensure emails go through.
If you do not receive your welcome email, please
check your trash/spam folders and if not found
please contact us again.
To ensure you receive your welcome email, please add
these email addresses
to your
email address white list on your email
program.
(Note: Please be sure to replace the [at] with @
and remove the spaces, or else the email
addresses won't work. They are put here like that to
help prevent robots from harvesting the email
addresses and using them to send out spam)
so please make sure that you subscribe
with your valid e-mail address that you check on a
regular basis.
Please be sure to check your inbox for an
e-mail from:

in the subject line.
